The Brussels Jazz Orchestra and Bert Joris go way back. When the band was formed over three decades ago, Bert’s repertoire provided a welcome starting point and was a regular feature of the set list. Over the years, that warm, intense bond of trust led to various collaborations in which Bert took on the roles of composer, arranger, soloist and external consultant in turn. The Music of Bert Joris (2001) is without doubt the most successful BJO album in the discography, beloved from New York to Japan and, for many, the definitive benchmark in the world of big band.
In 2027, to mark his 70th birthday, Bert is treating himself to a new collaboration with the orchestra, in which he once again combines his talent as a composer, arranger and trumpeter with the unique BJO sound. The new collaboration will also result in new music.
