Omar Souleyman, who has already collaborated with trendy artists such as Björk and Four Tet, began his career as a traditional wedding singer and released nearly 500 live albums before the civil war broke out in his homeland, Syria, in 2011. In his music, Souleyman blends his own voice with catchy synthesizer melodies and complex techno rhythms.

After years of lighting up Syrian weddings, the singer broke through to an international audience at the start of the last decade. He was picked up by hip labels like Mad Decent and Monkeytown and rocked festivals all over the world.
