We sluiten het eerste seizoen van Spreken Is Goud af met een SIG FEST in het kader van het 20-jarig bestaan van De Roma.
"Een feest zonder jollofrijst is gewoon een bijeenkomst"
Om die reden starten we de avond met een Jollof competition. UNESCO benoemde Senegal onlangs als dé ware Jollofmaker boven Ghana en Nigeria, maar de aloude rivaliteit is daarom nog niet voorbij. Je krijgt de kans om mee te beslissen wie voor eens en altijd (of alleszins toch 1 avond) kan zeggen dat hij de master is in het maken van Jollof! Tijdens dit alles worden we van beats voorzien door DJ Bo Meng, gehost door Sarah Bekambo.
"Afrika is geen land"
Afrika, een continent van bijna 1,5 miljard mensen, 54 landen en meer dan 2000 talen, wordt regelmatig gereduceerd tot één simpel verhaal. Afrika is geen land, geschreven door Dipo Faloyin dicht de gaten. We nodigen Dipo uit op ons podium om over zijn boek te praten. Nadien sluiten Fatima-Zohra Ait El Maati (kunstenaar, programmator, curator en oprichter van Imazi.Reine) en Heleen Debeuckelaere (historica, schrijfster en binnenlandredacteur bij De Standaard) aan. De gesprekken worden gemodereerd door Reine Elisabeth Nkiambote.

Dipo Faloyin is senior redacteur en schrijver bij VICE, waar hij voornamelijk schrijft over cultuur en identiteit in Europa, het Midden-Oosten en Afrika. Faloyin werd geboren in Chicago, groeide op in Lagos en woont momenteel in Londen.
