Achille Mbembe

How can we organize ourselves for the world of tomorrow? Multiple experts, such as Achille Mbembe and Martha Nussbaum, have tried to come up with answers for this question.

Achille Mbembe, philosopher and political scientist, will highlight the bases for international solidarity in a world marked by structural inequalities and in severe ecological deficit. Mbembe is professor at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and author of, among others, ‘Critique of Black Reason’ (2013) and ‘Necropolitics’ (2019).

Martha Nussbaum, Professor of Law and Ethics at the University of Chicago, will provide comments on his arguments.

The evening will be moderated by Gie Goris, Belgian journalist and former editor of Mo* magazine.

The event will be in English.

This is a public session organized as part of the annual conference of the Human Development and Capability Association, which will this year be organised at the University of Antwerp.
