Solidarity clothing exchange

As is our yearly custom, De Roma opens the doors during the festive season for the ‘Gedeelde Warmte’ solidarity campaign. This year, we are joining forces with MUCE, an Antwerp-based organisation dedicated to amplifying and encouraging the circular economy. When thinking of MUCE, people often immediately think of the clothes swaps. Ever since they started, they have been organising this swap as an accessible way to raise awareness of the circular economy amongst a wider audience and, in doing so, contribute to sustainable fashion.

On 13 December, De Roma and MUCE are organising a solidarity clothes swap together, where we want everyone to be able to enter our venue on an equal footing. Bring along one or more items of clothing that you still love, which you can swap for other pieces or, better still, choose to pay it forward so that someone who needs it more can pick out a new wardrobe.

To ensure there is something for everyone, we are focusing not only on the solidarity aspect but also on the circular economy. Do you have an item that could do with a bit of love? Then there are workshops after which you can head home with a transformed piece.

How does it work?

Regular clothes swap: You hand in the items of clothing you wish to swap at the entrance to the hall and receive one token per item in return. You can use these tokens to choose clothes at a rate of one token per item.

Solidarity: You can also donate one or more of your tokens to people who need them more. If you do not have any clothes to swap but are looking for a nice or useful item of clothing, you can receive a free token.

This event is free, but registration is required.
