Ben Harper is among the most influential songwriters of his generation. With his masterful guitar playing, he is also one of the most versatile musicians of our time. The American artist moves fearlessly between a wide range of genres: from pop, reggae and soul to blues, rock, funk and folk. Harper has released 18 studio albums and built a global fanbase with more than 16 million records sold and three Grammy Awards.
Ben Harper was born on October 28, 1969. His music and career embody the deep social engagement of that era. With honest lyrics and a generous dose of musical daring, he has become a pioneer and leading figure for many of his peers. At the same time, Harper adds a contemporary cultural awareness, making his socially engaged music sound as relevant and current today as ever. This was underscored by his Grammy nomination in 2023 for the new Special Merit Award for Best Song For Social Change.
Harper’s most recent album, Wide Open Light, features the hit Yard Sale, a duet with Jack Johnson. The album follows the soulful, heartfelt and politically bold Bloodline Maintenance, for which he was also nominated for a Grammy. At De Roma, Ben Harper will take the stage solo.
