Bente Fokkens broke through at a very young age on The Voice Kids with an impressive cover of Lost by Anouk. Shortly afterwards, she made a clear choice for acting, taking on roles in films and television series. But music never let go. In quiet moments, Bente taught herself how to play the guitar and started writing her own songs. This led to Nee is nee in 2021, a powerful protest song against sexual intimidation and her first outspoken musical statement.
In the late summer of 2025, things suddenly took off. Hoe hou ik dit vast, a collaboration with BLØF, made its way into the Top 10. Her participation in Beste Zangers gave her the final push towards a wider audience. Her reinterpretation of Cher’s Believe, titled Kan je me zien, has now been viewed more than 2 million times on YouTube. Today, Bente is part of an impressive new generation of Dutch female singers. Like Froukje, Maan or S10, she sings in her native language, with a sense of individuality and vulnerability that truly resonates.
