Twelve-year-old Bailey lives with her father Bug in a squat in north Kent. Bug has little time for her, as he is getting married soon and has a great idea for making quick money. To escape the chaos at home, Bailey is often out on her own - preferably in nature. Then she suddenly meets the eccentric and quirky Bird, who is looking for his birthplace nearby. Curious but cautious, Bailey decides to help him.

The film paints a portrait of life on the outer edges of British society, in which a family goes through fire for each other despite the circumstances. Arnold's empathy and ability to find beauty in difficult circumstances give the film wings.
