Accessibility

We wish an evening at De Roma to be an unforgettable experience for everyone. If the existing infrastructure is insufficient, we will be happy to find a solution for you.

Below you will find the solutions we offer. You can request them via the button below. We will respond to your request within 10 days (unless your event takes place before). Requests are not followed up during the weekend. If you cannot find what you need, do not hesitate to send an email to toegankelijkheid@deroma.be.

PLEASE NOTE: This request is separate from ticket sales. You must always purchase a ticket separately, in addition to this request. Tickets cannot be requested through this application form.

People with reduced mobility

The concert hall is easily accessible for people with reduced mobility. All toilets are located on the first floor. Wheelchair users can enter unhindered. Adapted sanitary facilities are also available. If it's difficult to get up the stairs to the balcony, there's an elevator. Wheelchair users can also take place on the balcony when it is open to the public.

We understand that it's not easy for everyone to stand all evening, or to know in advance whether there will be enough seats. If you are unable to stand (for an extended period) for a (temporary) medical reason, you are welcome to express your specific wishes or needs.

Please note: we will do our utmost to provide you with a seat if necessary. Unfortunately, we only have a limited number of bar stools, seats and wheelchair spaces. If we run out of seats, this does not entitle you to a refund. Fortunately, we rarely have to turn down seating requests. We will be happy to find the best possible solution.

Seated concerts

For seated events, De Roma does not have numbered seats. This means that when you buy your tickets, you cannot choose your seat. You choose your seats on the evening of the event, in the order in which you enter. For wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility, we can reserve easily accessible seats. Please let us know in advance using the request form below.

Standing concerts

During standing concerts, there is hardly any seating available, or only a limited number of seats when the balcony is open. However, we obviously want everyone with a ticket to have a pleasant, carefree evening at De Roma. That's why we provide a limited number of bar stools you can take inside. You can request a bar stool in advance via the registration form below. When our balcony is open, we will reserve a limited number of seats for people who cannot stand for long. Please only request a seat if you have a specific medical need (temporary or otherwise).

Wheelchair users

We reserve a separate area at the front of the venue for a limited number of wheelchair users and their companions. From this location you can enjoy a good view of the stage. There is also a reserved area on the balcony for wheelchair users and their companions. There is space for one companion per wheelchair user. Please inform us in advance via the request form below.

Visually impaired visitors

For standing shows, if you arrive on time, you can choose a seat at the front of the room. Would you like to be accompanied to the room? Let us know at the box office at the entrance of De Roma. We will make sure that someone accompanies you to a good place. For a performance with seats, you can request a seat at the front via our request form below.

Hard of hearing visitors

For comedy shows, musical theatre and debates, you can listen live with your own headphones or hearing aid via the Sennheiser MobileConnect system in our venue. This app streams the sound from the stage directly via your smartphone to your headphones or hearing aid. On the "Agenda" page with the descriptions of our activities, you can find which shows use the MobileConnect system.

PRACTICAL TIP: Install the Sennheiser MobileConnect app on your smartphone beforehand at home and test whether your smartphone can connect to your hearing aid. Download the app here: Android - iOS.

Please note that we do our best to transmit the sound as quickly as possible, but it is inevitable that sometimes there is a slight delay in the sound transmission. Here is what you can do to avoid an echo effect:

  • Check the settings of your hearing aid: limit ambient noise if possible. This way, you can concentrate on the sound coming in via MobileConnect.
  • If you want to use headphones, it is best to take those that completely cover your ears. The result is also better if you can use a wire instead of Bluetooth.
  • If necessary, discuss this with your audiologist beforehand.
Non-Dutch speakers

De Roma uses language icons to show how much Dutch you need to know for the event.

1 language icon NL: Even if you don't understand or speak a lot of Dutch, you will enjoy the events with 1 language icon.

2 language icons NL: If you understand some Dutch, but don't speak it very well, you can still enjoy the shows with 2 language icons.

3 language icons NL: You understand Dutch and can also say some things. You will enjoy the events with 3 language icons.

4 language icons NL: You understand and speak Dutch fluently.

For visitors sensitive to overstimulation

If you are uncomfortable with too much hustle and bustle around you or having to fight your way through the crowd and it is too difficult to find a quiet place, it is exceptionally possible to reserve a seat near the exit on the balcony. This means that you do not have to queue in advance, but can arrive once the crowd has passed.

The seat on the balcony is close to the exit, so you can quickly find some peace and quiet in the staircase or in the foyer if necessary. However, during concerts it is often inevitable that there will be a lot of hustle and bustle, even on the balcony, because of enthusiastic visitors who sing or sometimes stand up.
