Chris Thile is a phenomenon on the mandolin. Like no other, the charismatic American draws on the most diverse genres with his instrument. In his work, Thile explores a wide range of genres, from jazz and classical to contemporary pop and bluegrass. His songs include references to Brad Mehldau, Bach and Radiohead. Like no other, this Grammy Award-winning virtuoso takes you on a journey through a rich musical universe that is never boring.

On 7 November, his new album Bach: Sonatas and Partitas, Vol. 2 will be released. As the title suggests, this is Thile's second performance of works by the great German composer. The album includes three works by Johann Sebastian Bach: Partita No. 2 in D minor, Sonata No. 3 in C major and Partita No. 3 in E major. Twelve years after the first volume, Thile this time adopts a more personal approach.

Unlike volume 1, with which he doubted whether Bach would like it, Thile opted for a freer interpretation in volume 2. His mentor Edgar Meyer encouraged him to approach Bach as a life practice, similar to yoga: something you do because it enriches your life and makes you proud of human creativity.
