Born and raised in North London, Hohnen Ford grew up in London's vibrant jazz scene. She became intrigued by the instrumental jazz music of the 20th century and later studied jazz at the Royal Academy of Music. As a student, Hohnen Ford performed extensively with various bands around the United Kingdom; in the meantime, she worked on her own music.
As a songwriter, she was inspired by such greats as Joni Mitchell, Bjork, David Longstreth, Stevie Wonder, Big Thief, Gillian Welch and the composers of the Great American Songbook. While writing and recording her debut album, Hohnen Ford built a devoted online audience thanks to her online performances at the piano, broadcast live from her home to her loyal followers each week.
