Islamophobia & discrimination
- i.c.w. KADOC-KU Leuven en het Netwerk Islamexperten
De Roma, KADOC-KU Leuven and Netwerk Islamexperten cordially invite you to the debate evening on Islamophobia and discrimination.
During this evening, Kautar Oulad El Haj from the Network Islamexperten and AMOR will have a conversation with several panelists. Together, they will shed light on the various manifestations of Islamophobia and how it differs from religious criticism. They will explore why Islamophobia and prejudice continue to affect Muslim communities and discuss the impact on those who experience it.
The panel will also examine the effects of discrimination and Islamophobia on Muslim communities, reflect on sustainable solutions, and consider the role of mosques in addressing these challenges.
What do we mean by Islamophobia?
Islamophobia refers to fear, hatred, or prejudice against Islam and Muslims. It can manifest in discrimination, hostility, exclusion, or violence directed at Muslims, both on an individual and institutional level. Unlike religious criticism, Islamophobia does not involve substantive discussions about religious beliefs but instead stigmatises and marginalises individuals based on their faith.
