Movies that take place in and around a movie theater always make our hearts beat faster. It's the same with the charming La contadora de películas. The film takes place in the 1960s in a town in the Atacama Desert (Chile). In one of the driest places on Earth, where people live in poverty, Father Medardo works in a potassium nitrate mine to support his wife and children.

Sunday is the highlight of the week, because that's when family members put on their best clothes to go to the movies. Maria Margarita, the youngest of four children, has a special gift: she excels in the art of narrating films. This talent is first discovered by her parents, then by the entire village. The young narrator not only manages to win the hearts of the villagers, but she also changes the destiny of her family.

The movie won the Seminci Joven Award for Best Feature Film at the Valladolid International Film Festival. At the Gaudí Awards he received the Gaudí Award in the Best Visual Effects category.
