'The story I have long told about the climate crisis, and the need for a green transition, is appealing, but also dangerous. This book is about the fact that we have to stop telling that story.' - Anuna De Wever Van der Heyden
In Laten we eerlijk zijn (Let's Be Honest), the country's most famous climate activist takes you on a journey through her political coming of age. The journey began with the climate marches, a global movement that mobilized millions of people, but also earned her the first death threats. What followed was a learning process: she became disillusioned with political leaders, the corporate world, the media and, above all, the economic system we live in.
Taking a critical look at her early years as an activist, and the role she herself played, she takes the reader into a deeper analysis of the system we live in and how - by daring to be more honest - we can build something revolutionary.
On October 21, Anuna De Wever Van der Heyden will bring her fellow activists and friends to De Roma for an honest and hopeful debate: together with Rachida Aziz and Philsan Osman, she will discuss about the root causes of the major challenges we face, and the need for collective action for a more just world.
Hostess Sakina El Kaddouri will provide a poetic note and Palestinian-Belgian music band Bani Adam will close the evening.
