Madou is timeless and cult. A defunct group that is still relevant after 40 years. In 1981, the first single Witte Nachten was released, pure gold, followed by the fabulous Niets is voor altijd, which climbed to number 39 on Radio 1's Belpop 100 list of this year. In 1982, they released their first self-titled album. "Anyone who is not touched by the voice of Vera Coomans is dead inside. She is the Marianne Faithfull of Flanders," says Jan Delvaux of Belpop.
Forty years after the first single, in September 2021 Madou presented the second album Is er iets? (with the hit Ronquières), which was highly acclaimed by the press. In September 2022, the legendary debut album from 1982 was finally reissued on vinyl (exactly forty years later) via BLP Records and a tour that also included De Roma, followed.
Vera and Wiet Leestmans clearly regained their taste for music and composed new songs for their new EP, which was released in autumn 2024. In spring 2024 there was already a new single: Mooie Dag. Reason enough to give a new concert at De Roma! Don't miss it!
