Her last studio album was released eight years ago. Axelle Red took her time to set the bar very high for new songs, often uptempo, with lyrics that can be read on multiple levels. She has already performed her new song Gentils anarchistes live on television in the show The Voice. The full new album is expected at the end of 2026. The release of the album will of course be accompanied by a live concert at De Roma, an event that will bring Axelle to Borgerhout for the ninth time!
Axelle Red, pop and soul diva and singer-songwriter, has been delivering iconic songs for more than thirty years, from Sensualité and Parce que c'est toi to À tâtons, Rester femme and Rouge ardent. With thirteen albums, millions of records sold and tens of millions of streams every year, she has grown into a unique artist who effortlessly weaves emotion and commitment into her work.
Her debut album Sans plus attendre (1993) was a sensation: more than 500,000 copies sold made it one of the best-selling Belgian albums ever. With the subsequent tour and her second album À tâtons, recorded with top musicians from the American soul world, she broke through internationally. Today, her timeless songs inspire a new generation of French artists such as Vianney, Clara Luciani, Juliette Armanet and Julien Doré. Even global star Dua Lipa paid tribute to Axelle Red with a cover during her concert at the Afas Dome (Sportpaleis) in Antwerp.
In addition to her musical career, Axelle has emerged as an outspoken activist. She has championed human rights, collaborated with UNICEF, become an ambassador for Handicap International and spoken out about the position of women worldwide long before #MeToo. That commitment was powerfully translated into art in Sisters & Empathy (2009), an album about injustice against women, child marriage and female genital mutilation—issues she became familiar with through her humanitarian work. Where she once sang "Le monde tourne mal... Let's dance", she felt an increasingly strong urge to use her music as a voice for change.
