If one artist has made his mark on the reggae scene in recent years, it has to be Proteje. The Jamaican-born singer and producer symbolises a new generation of artists who combine roots reggae, dub, hip-hop and R&B and managed to score with the general public.
Protoje finally broke through in 2014 with his world hit Who Knows for which he collaborated with his already just as popular compatriot Chronixx. In 2024, Proteje made the soundtrack The Jamaican Situation, a mini-film about the complexities and challenges of everyday life in Jamaica.
