In Quand vient l'automne, we follow Michelle as she enjoys a peaceful retirement in a Burgundy village, close to her old friend Marie-Claude, with whom she picks mushrooms in the forest. When her Parisian daughter Valérie drops her son Lucas off at his grandmother's for the school holidays, Michelle, stressed by her daughter, serves some apparently poisonous mushrooms for lunch. Valérie falls ill but recovers quickly and thereupon forbids her mother to see her grandson again. Michelle feels lonely and sinks into depression. Until Marie-Claude's son gets out of prison...
