Anyone who saw Slowdive perform at Rock Werchter or Best Kept Secret last summer knows: this wonderful band is at the height of their powers. The shoegaze icons have the gift of capturing their audience from the very first note with a thrilling sound that grabs you by the guts and never lets go. There is no better place than De Roma to present their dreamy music in all its glory.
Shortly after its creation in 1989 in Reading (England) Slowdive, consisting of singer-guitarists Rachel Goswell and Neil Halstead, guitarist Christian Savill, bassist Nick Chaplin and drummer Simon Scott, was highly acclaimed for its three cult albums on Creation Records.
They then remained silent for no less than 19 years, until the band unexpectedly got back together in 2014 and released a monumental self-titled album in 2017. In September 2023 Slowdive released their fifth album Everything is Alive, which is exactly what its title promises: an exploration of life in all its universal aspects.
So, more than 35 years after its creation, Slowdive is alive and kicking again to live up to its reputation as a niche band from the 90s. Come and admire them live at De Roma!
