Tatami
Tatami is an impressive political thriller, inspired on true events, that will keep you on the edge of your seat. When a judoka is ordered to deliberately lose at the World Championships, a blood-curdling battle begins, both on and off the mat (tatami).
Judoka Leila and her coach Maryam head to the Judo World Championships to secure a gold medal for Iran. Leila is all prepared and has a good chance of winning. When the Iranian regime realizes that there might be a fight against an Israeli opponent, they do everything they can to stop Leila from competing.
In the middle of the competition, the judoka and her coach get an ultimatum from the Islamic Republic ordering Leila to fake an injury and lose. When her own freedom and that of her family are threatened, Leila is faced with an impossible dilemma : feign injury and bow to the Iranian regime, as Maryam implores her to do, or defy them all and keep fighting for gold? How will her choice affect the rest of her life?
