Tommy Emmanuel

Three years ago, Tommy Emmanuel mesmerised audiences at De Roma with a breathtaking concert. His playing is simply miraculous, because it would actually take three musicians, or more, to do what Tommy does solo. Emmanuel exudes a rarely seen joy of playing and puts his heart and soul into every song he plays.

At De Roma, Tommy Emmanuel draws from his rich oeuvre, including indestructible classics such as Angelina and Lewis & Clark. He will also introduce his latest album Accomplice Two, the follow-up to his hit record Accomplice One. For the new album, Emmanuel collaborated with music legends such as Michael McDonald, Jorma Kaukonen and Little Feat, while bluegrass stars such as Billy Strings, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas and David Grisman were also in the front row to collaborate with the guitar phenomenon from Australia.

Tommy Emmanuel taught himself to play guitar as a four-year-old, on one that his father had happened to bring home. It was the beginning of an impressive career. In the 1980s, he toured the world as a guitarist in various bands. This included him performing alongside Tina Turner on the biggest stages.

In the 1990s, however, he grew tired of being a rock star. He traded in his electric guitar for good for the acoustic and headed to Nashville to meet his great idol Chet Atkins. The two played together several times and Atkins gave Tommy Emmanuel the honorary title of C.G.P, or Certified Guitar Player. Since then, Emmanuel, with his broad smile and finger-picking guitar playing, continues to win the hearts of fans all over the world.
