vers vuur, the festival in the broadest sense of the word, has found a new home at De Roma. Organised by VONK & Zonen, this annual festival brings word art in all its forms to the stage and brings literature to life in a broad, contemporary and inclusive context.
In recent years, vers vuur has developed into a pioneer in literary innovation: a multidisciplinary festival where poetry, spoken word, music, visual arts, theatre and performance intersect. It invites a diverse audience to discover literature beyond the book, emphasising new voices, alternative narrative forms and broad accessibility. For this edition, we invited Antwerp city poet Esohe Weyden to be co-curator of the festival.
On 23 May, we present a solid, colourful line-up including Chibi Ichigo, Fresku, Willy Organ, IKRAAAN, Word Wa(r), Luan Buleshkaj, Spitler, Esohe Weyden, Elten Kiene, Myriem El-Kaddouri, Benzokarim, Kleine Ryan, Tülin Erkan, Sarah De Koning and Uschi Cop.
