Vingt dieux shows how eighteen-year-old Totone sees his carefree existence change abruptly when his father dies. Suddenly, the impulsive teenager has to take care of his younger sister Claire. This responsibility falls heavily on Totone: he piles up the failures and bad luck. Until he discovers his passion for making Comté, the famous French cheese that allows him to win a large sum of money in a local competition.

This extraordinary debut film by Louise Courvoisier is also an ode to her own homeland: the Jura, the French mountain region bordering Switzerland with its early morning mist and vast fields.
