Samira calls her family together, camera in hand, for a rare meeting. Her mother is silent. Only when she arrives in her native village does she reveal her secrets, her regrets and her strength.

In the documentary (Y)Our Mother - Les Miennes, Samira El Mouzghibati tells the story of her family. The film is a moving examination of motherhood, an intimate portrait of 2 generations of women in the history of Moroccan migration to Belgium.

The (Y)Our Mother - Les Miennes had its world premiere at the Visions du Réel festival in 2024, where it won both the FIPRESCI Award and the Zonta Award. Critics praised the documentary for its intimate approach to intergenerational relationships and the search for understanding and reconciliation within a family.

The documentary will be introduced by the director Samira El Mouzghibati.

Samira El Mouzghibati was born in Belgium to a family with roots in the Rif in Morocco. She studied film at INSAS in Brussels with a specialisation in editing and screenplay. She enriched her experience by working with directors from different backgrounds, for short and feature films, both fiction and documentary, in Geneva, Marrakech, Marseille and Brussels. Convinced of the transformative power of cinema, Samira directed her first documentary.
