De Roma breekt uit! Due to the installation of a new parquet floor, our venue will not reopen until Friday, September 26. Therefore, we are temporarily organising a series of surprising concerts and other activities on location in Troubleyn: Pastorijstraat 23, 2060 Antwerp.

In 2024, Chantal Acda flipped her songwriting ways. She decided to create a new album with the band members with whom she has toured for more than a decade as the Chantal Acda Band, musicians who know and trust each other through and through. She used to be the only writer in the band, but now she wants her music to reflect each member's musical creativity. This album had to be a truly collaborative work.

After playing in several duo formations, Belgian-Dutch singer-songwriter Chantal Acda decided in 2013 to launch a solo career and express her own artistic vision more freely. From this grew her first solo album Let Your Hands Be My Guide, produced by Nils Frahm. Her lauded solo debut was followed by The Sparkle in Our Flaws (2015), Bounce Back (2017) and Saturday Moon (2020), in which she delved even deeper into emotional themes. Meanwhile, she continued to grow as an artist, with more finely crafted arrangements and bold experiments.

Chantal has carved her own niche in the music world with sincere and emotional songs and her distinctive, fragile voice. With her latest album, Silently Held (2024), she stepped outside that own place. Under the name Chantal Acda & The Atlantic Drifters, the singer, best known for her blend of indie folk, ambient and chamber pop, now worked with renowned jazz musicians such as Bill Frisell, Thomas Morgan and Colin Stetson.

Now she returns to her familiar band with renewed inspiration. Chantal Acda explores a sound that is fiercer and more poppy than before, but the music is still full of the emotions, creativity and introspection we are used to from Chantal. The new album, named The Whale, was produced by Chris Eckman (of The Walkabouts) and will be released in autumn 2025 by Starman Records.
