In 2024, Emma Bale came home. For the first time, she feels like she is herself at the wheel of her career. That has been different in the past. Sure: she could still be a beautiful pop princess. Someone who lets herself be steered and just performs what is asked of her. She has done that in the past. Only: in that scenario, Emma felt she was mostly a conglomeration of other artists. It didn't make her happy, so one thing she knew for sure: never again.

Enter Willem Ardui of Antwerp's blackwave. The first writing session yielded the excellent ‘lavender salt’, a track from her ‘EP 3.1.’ released last winter which, the title gives it away, was the first part of a triptych of which 3.2. will be released at the end of June. ‘Eyes Closed’, a track she also co-wrote with Ardui and Nina Sampermans, will be the first single from it. In Dutch, indeed.
