From the rich Belgian soil, this trio has confidently carved out a space where experimentation and sharp pop sensibility perfectly coexist. The Antwerp-based trio — Anne-Sophie Ooghe (vocals, guitar), Dieter Beerten (vocals, drums), and Koen Weverbergh (bass) — started with a dreamy, shoegaze-inspired style that gradually evolved into a subtle balance between introspection and hooks.
Their distinctive sound — familiar yet hard to categorize — caught the attention of M83 and tastemaker Steve Lamacq, whose early support on the BBC paved the way for international recognition. The band’s work, especially the breakthrough album Firepool and its more ambitious follow-up Return to Dust, showcases a group that consistently pushes boundaries without losing accessibility.
With their new album Noonday Demon, due out on 30 January, High Hi will undoubtedly cement their place in the ever-changing indie landscape. Singles Running, The Show and Odessa are already promising.
