Amazigh New Year

  • i.c.w. La Maison du Rif

Yennayer, or the Amazigh New Year, is celebrated lavishly. This year, we are celebrating the year 2975! Every year, Amazigh people from all over the world come together to celebrate the New Year with Berber music and traditions from their respective regions. This year, the focus is on the Rif region. To mark the occasion, two legendary bands will fill the evening with the vibrant sounds of the Rif.

Syphax Band originated in Morocco and was formed by talented young students with a passion for music. The group blends rock, fusion and traditional Rif rhythms. Syphax Band has won several prestigious competitions in Morocco, including the Tremplin of the Boulevard Festival.

The core members are now based in Europe and are eager to share their music with the rest of the world. Prepare to experience heartfelt music, with captivating rhythms and a unique fusion of styles.

Inumazigh is a music group from Nador, a city in the Rif region of northern Morocco, with a legacy spanning more than 40 years.

In 1976, during a time of political unrest and severe repression, a group of young people founded the band to defend the Amazigh language, rights, and cultural values. Their songs speak of freedom, equality and social justice, while encouraging people to denounce injustices.

In the early 1990s, part of the group emigrated to Catalonia, where they began a new chapter in collaboration with Catalan musicians. Despite this evolution, they have remained true to the group’s name and mission: representing Amazigh culture and traditions from the Rif.

Come celebrate with us and discover the rich culture of the Rif through music!
