Madeleine Peyroux

Let's Walk

The American singer Madeleine Peyroux began her career as a street performer in Paris, where she could improve her unique blend of jazz, blues, and folk. Her breakthrough came with the release of her 1996 debut album, Dreamland, which showcased her Billie Holiday-esque vocal style and was widely acclaimed.

Over the years, Peyroux has released several albums, each demonstrating her progression as an artist and songwriter. She has collaborated with notable musicians and producers, continually developing her sound while staying true to her roots. Peyroux’s music is celebrated for her emotional depth, lyrical sophistication, and her ability to convey complex feelings with a timeless, soulful voice.

Madeleine Peyroux’s ninth album, Let’s Walk, is her most confident and courageous work until now. Featuring ten personal songs co-written by Peyroux, the album blends jazz, folk, and chamber pop. Peyroux’s distinctive voice and deep emotional expression shine throughout.

The album, created during the pandemic, reflects on the challenges of that period. Peyroux collaborated with Jon Herington and producer Elliott Scheiner, to crteate songs such as Find True Love and Let’s Walk which address social issues and personal growth, with influences from civil rights movements and African American music.
