Singer, songwriter and producer Meau Hewitt (24) has been making music since she could walk. After her pop/rock education at the Herman Brood Academy, she turned to writing Dutch-language songs, inspired by artists such as Eefje de Visser. The result? The most beautiful indie pop music: a touch of synths, warm sounds, dreamy choruses and golden lyrics.
Her monster hit Dat Heb Jij Gedaan knocked none other than Stromae from first place in Belgium. Her debut album titled 22 is an intensely personal album with songs about love, searching for yourself, being confused or leaving chaos behind and feeling free. MEAU collaborated with Portland, among others, and contributed to the song Droom Het Donker Weg on her friend Pommelien Thijs' album.
In June 2024, she released her new single Nergens Liever, a pure song with the signature MEAU sound. About how you want nothing more than to be with the right person, but that it's all very new and exciting. The fact that Nergens Liever is so recognizable is a nice asset in MEAU's impressive musical repertoire.
