Richard Thompson

"The best rock songwriter since Dylan and the best electric guitarist since Hendrix." The Los Angeles Times' description is spot on: Richard Thompson is undoubtedly one of the most influential musicians of recent decades. Robert Plant, Elvis Costello, R.E.M., Bonnie Raitt, Tom Jones and David Byrne, among others, have worked with him.

Thompson's rich career dates back to the 1960s, when, as a teenager, he founded the groundbreaking Fairport Convention with a few other musicians. That band immediately made its mark on British folk rock. After the break-up, he worked with his then-wife Linda for ten years, before going on to build an impressive solo career spanning more than thirty years.

Hits such as I Feel So Good, I Misunderstood, Dad's Gonna Kill Me and 1952 Vincent Black Lightning are etched in our collective musical memory. His refined, genre-transcending guitar playing, combined with his infectious energy and humour, continue to win Richard Thompson new fans and make him one of the most beloved songwriters in the history of folk rock.
