Sara Correia

With her album Liberdade, Sara Correia establishes herself as an ambassador of modern fado, faithful to tradition yet deeply rooted in today's times. Her warm, deep voice, somewhere between alto and contralto, transcends generations and borders.

She has toured the world and been nominated for a Latin Grammy. Surrounded by some of today's finest lyricists and composers, she has reinterpreted traditional fado in her own unique way.

Sara Correia proudly feels that Liberdade, her latest album, is the "most fadista". Sara and her band - Diogo Clemente on fado guitar and artistic direction, Ângelo Freire on Portuguese guitar and Frederico Gato on acoustic bass - present a unified and cohesive show, coloured and layered by subtle experiences with and influences from other genres.

Sara Correia, born 1993 in Lisbon, broke through in her homeland after winning the Grande Noite do Fado at the age of 13. She immediately got a record deal and has since released three albums. With songs like Quero É Viver, Chegou Tão Tarde, Porquê do Fado and Dizer Não, she scored big hits. Her popularity in Portugal was boosted by her role as a judge on The Voice Portugal and The Voice Gerações. Moreover her involvement in these talent shows confirmed her status as one of the leading voices of the Portuguese fado scene.
