Like no other, SYML - meaning ‘simple’ in Welsh - knows how to return to the essence with his music. Stripped of all frills, he digs deep into his audience's emotions with his hushed songs. With nothing more than a piano and acoustic guitar he conveys his messages to his fans. During his previous tour in Borgerhout (2023), SYML got De Roma quiet from start to finish.
Meanwhile, Seattle-based singer-songwriter Brian Fennell's solo project is on its third solo album. On Nobody Lives Here (release 4 April 2025) showcases his clearest and sharpest style yet. Written, recorded and produced by Fennell himself and his long-term colleague Brian Eichelberger, the album is steeped in the realisation that life is finite and very precious.
SYML broke through in 2019 with his self-titled debut album. With Where's My Love and Girl, he scored two big hits. Follow-up album The Day My Father Died (2023) was acclaimed worldwide. It includes songs with the participation of Guy Garvey of Elbow, Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek and Charlotte Lawrence, among others.
SYML's music provided the soundtrack for numerous films and TV shows and was used by Lana Del Rey in the song Paris, TX for her Grammy-nominated 2023 album. With more than four billion streams, SYML now belongs in the ranks of the great singer-songwriters of our time. Recently, the new live album Paris Unplugged was released.
