WIES walks its own unique path along the winding roads of indie pop, through the alleys of folk music and along the side roads of rock and electronica. The albums Het Is Een WIES (2021) and Alles Anders (2023) are already distinctive calling cards. 

"Sometimes I think of WIES as a magic box. Colourful on the outside with influences from punk and electronic music, and a big sound. But if you dig deeper, there is also a serious and sensitive inside, with lyrics that mean something and have been well thought out," says frontwoman Jeanne Rouwendaal. With drummer Dan Huijser and bassist Teun van der Maarel, she delves deeper into the stage and, together with the audience, explores how far the elusive but instantly recognisable WIES sound can reach.
