Internationally acclaimed jazz singer José James breathes new life into Marvin Gaye's timeless masterpiece I Want You. Produced by Leon Ware for Motown Records, this iconic album celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and remains a benchmark. It has influenced several generations and artists around the world, including Prince and D'Angelo, Mary J. Blige, Sade and Kendrick Lamar.
José James, who himself collaborated with Leon Ware on his album No Beginning No End (Blue Note Records), considers Marvin Gaye to be one of his greatest sources of inspiration. For the charismatic American singer, guitarist and composer, this project is both a dream come true and a tribute to two music legends.
On stage, José James is accompanied by renowned guest musicians and singers, including the formidable China Moses.
The famous jazz, soul and R&B singer, daughter of jazz legend Dee Dee Bridgewater, is accompanied by a world-class band consisting of Marcus Machado (guitar), BIGYUKI (piano), David Ginyard (bass) and Jharis Yokley (drums). The concert will begin with a full performance of I Want You, followed by mini-sets by the guest artists in which Marvin Gaye's influence will be clearly audible.
