A third of Antwerp's population is under 30, but these youngsters are rarely involved in shaping (policy in) their city. What does a liveable - sustainable and socially equitable - city mean for the youth of Antwerp?

J100 gives young people a voice and is committed to building the city of tomorrow. This Antwerp youth collective makes space for meeting and exchange with various partners in the city about the social challenges young people face.

At the occasion of the 2024 local elections, J100 organised a series of neighbourhood walks. During these walks through 9 Antwerp neighbourhoods, young people shared their vision of their neighbourhood with policymakers, local residents, social organisations and the media.

A year after the kick-off of these neighbourhood walks, the young people of J100 return to AMOR of De Roma to share the results of this trajectory, in particular what has been included in the current policy plans of the (districts of the) city of Antwerp and where there is still work to be done.

They invite everyone to join them in a dialogue, at discussion tables, on the themes they want to take concrete steps around in their neighbourhoods: from education and a solid infrastructure for sports and leisure to (traffic) safety and inclusive public places.

Host and moderator of this evening is Noura Kaddaoui

With the Leefbare Stad series, Spreken is Goud explores what is happening in the city and how we can work towards a sustainable future for all, among others in the area of housing, mobility and public space. After all, sustainability not only includes care for the environment but also respect for the rights of every human being: social justice is a necessary condition for climate transition.

The Antwerp Youth Collective J100 consists of young people aged between 15 and 30 with diverse backgrounds, coming from different neighbourhoods and organisations. The J100 young people are supported by 16 youth organisations: Bazzz, Betonne Jeugd, Fleks, Formaat, Girls in the City, JC Bouckenborgh, JES vzw, Kras jeugdwerk, Moving Ground, ROOTS, SAAMO - project Samen op Straat, Safe Space, Stampmedia, Uit De Marge, Young Fenix and Youth Unity Empowerment.

The J100 neighbourhood walks project came about in cooperation with Ieders Stem Telt, and with the support of the European Union, Erasmus+ and JINT.
