To mark International African Writers’ Day, Spreken is Goud and MO*Magazine are organising a talk with new voices in Flemish literature.
We invite four authors of recent books on the colonial history of Africa in general, DR Congo in particular, and the various anti-colonial responses to it.
We bring together different genres, underrepresented perspectives and voices. Through an essay, an autobiography and a children’s book, these (diaspora) authors offer a reinterpretation of Lumumba’s inspiring legacy, a re-evaluation of the forgotten role of women in the anti-colonial movements, and a child-centred imagination of the history of colonisation and decolonisation.
