The Mary Wallopers
The Mary Wallopers
For fans of: Kingfishr, Lankum, The Dubliners
The Mary Wallopers were founded in Dundalk, in eastern Ireland. In their early days, the group travelled across the country collecting and performing traditional songs. Their first shows radiated a raw energy that could best be described as a meeting between the Dead Kennedys and The Clancy Brothers. Their five-track debut EP, A Mouthful of The Mary Wallopers (2019), perfectly captured their identity from the outset: an irresistible blend of warmth, intimacy, chaos and sparks capable of setting any venue ablaze.
Thanks to livestreams that went viral during the pandemic, The Mary Wallopers quickly became one of Ireland’s most unmissable live acts. With their self-titled debut album in 2022 and Irish Rock N Roll in 2023, they proved themselves worthy successors to The Pogues and The Dubliners, reaching an audience far beyond traditional folk enthusiasts. Their new self-produced album, Paddywhackery, will be released on 18 September. Their recent singles already make it clear that they have no intention of slowing down.
