Tigran Hamasyan

Tigran Hamasyan blends lyrical jazz with the rich musical tradition of his native Armenia. At the piano, he brings an inspiring universe to life. In 2019, he captivated De Roma with the live performance of his album An Ancient Observer. Now he returns with a new masterpiece: Manifeste. The album will be released on 6 February under the Believe label.

On this new artistic exploration, the virtuoso pianist makes a bold, multidimensional statement. Manifeste, composed entirely by Hamasyan himself and partly recorded in Yerevan, Athens and Los Angeles, combines his characteristic rhythmic complexity and spiritual depth with a more cinematic soundscape, interweaving Armenian folk roots, progressive rock intensity and choral mysticism.

In addition to awards and critical acclaim, Hamasyan has built a devoted following around the world, as well as praise from Herbie Hancock, Brad Mehldau and the late Chick Corea. ‘With surprising combinations of jazz, minimalist, electronic, folk and songwriter elements, Hamasyan and his collaborators travel through musical realms characterised by heavy grooves, ethereal voices, pristine piano playing and ancient melodies. You won't hear anything else like it,’ praises American music channel NPR.
