Irreversible Entanglements

Irreversible Entanglements is an avant-garde jazz group that uses the liberating power of jazz and Black Music as a form of cultural activism. The band was born out of deep friendships and shared social commitment, combining international reach with a strong connection to their own communities. Their live performances are energetic, uncompromising and imbued with revolutionary love for the people.

The band consists of five influential artists: poet and Afrofuturist Camae Ayewa (Moor Mother), bassist Luke Stewart, saxophonist Keir Neuringer, and the dynamic duo Aquiles Navarro (trumpet) and Tcheser Holmes (drums). Each member brings their own artistic vision and musical background, ranging from classical jazz to Afro-Caribbean influences, resulting in a powerful and innovative group sound.

Since their debut album in 2017, which was recorded in a single session, Irreversible Entanglements has garnered praise from NPR and Pitchfork, among others. Their second album, Who Sent You? (2020), offered sharp criticism of social injustice and reached the Billboard Contemporary Jazz charts. With their third album, Open The Gates (2021), they further expanded their musical palette, combining tradition and innovation in a genre-transcending musical journey.
