Nocturnes is music that breathes to the rhythm of the night. A subtle fusion of jazz and chamber music, where one might imagine an encounter between Erik Satie and Duke Ellington. The result is a sensual, melancholic, and energetic universe of original compositions.

The collaboration between trumpeter Jon Birdsong and pianist Anthony Romaniuk began in 2018, leading to a critically acclaimed recording and a series of atmospheric concerts. When Romaniuk moved to Madrid, the project paused briefly — but the music soon found new life.

Today, Nocturnes takes on a fresh impulse through the collaboration between Birdsong and pianist Christian Mendoza. This new formation places a stronger emphasis on the jazz elements of the music, with richer colours, more improvisation, and a spontaneous, vibrant approach. What remains is the unique intention: an ode to darkness, to imagination, and to the mysterious life of the night.
