For whom does the economy continue to grow, and at whose expense? What is the actual price paid by humanity and the planet for endless growth? What if the climate crisis is fundamentally about exploitation, inequality and power? And what would an economy not driven by profit, but by democracy, justice and well-being, look like?
In the documentary The Cost of Growth, Anuna De Wever, together with Lena Hartog, seeks answers to these questions from grassroots movements in Italy, Serbia and Sápmi, and from leading experts such as Greta Thunberg, Vijay Prashad and Jason Hickel.
On 30 October, Anuna De Wever will present The Cost of Growth at Spreken is Goud of De Roma, in collaboration with Linx+ and the Green Offices of the University and Colleges of Antwerp.
After the screening, moderator Stephanie Collingwoode-Williams will talk with Anuna De Wever, Bruno Verlaeckt of ABVV-FGTB and professor Nathalie Vallet of the University of Antwerp.
